Welcome to Bord Saga! I'm spe.
This is the digital domain where I share my hobby.
I say hobby, but it is more than a hobby really. Deep down I am tabletop gaming geek. I define “Geek" as someone who is enthusiastically passionate about a particular pursuit. And I am not just a tabletop geek but a gaming nerd as well. I define "Nerd" as someone who spends inordinate amounts of time on the specific details of unpopular, little-known, or non-mainstream pastimes. I am glad to say that this nerdy geekiness regrading tabletop games seems to have spread to many others since I started in the hobby.
For me tabletop gaming has always been about having fun and playing. The most important element of any game is how much fun it brings to the people who are around the table playing. It has to be about the fun. Life is too short for anything else. There never seems to be enough time to play games. As an omni-gamer, I am someone who will play anything and everything at least once. Many types of “fun” can be had from the many genres of “games”. A large part of that fun is determined by the players sitting around the table. But if a game can inspire the players to use their imagination, to express themselves creatively, if a game can challenge them to make unique and complex decisions while creating a sense of excitement and good humor, then in my mind that game is a success. That's a lot to ask of a box full of cardboard.
There is so much more to games and playing. Cooperation, strategy, competition, history, puzzle-solving, and face to face human interaction. I am not exactly sure why I am sharing my hobby this way. I do know that I will not be doing reviews or lists. I enjoy examining and discussing in detail what enables cards, dice, art, miniatures, etcetera, to bring me joy. I will enthusiastically dig-in to the details of tabletop games. I will try in all ways on this site to positively share stories, innovations, designs, and ideas I have about the games that I am playing. Things I post are simply presented as one opinion, and I know there are many other opinions based on different experiences. I do not know the "right' or "true" way, only a way that works for me.
I like to play. I have always liked playing - pretending - using my imagination to be in other worlds and to understand what it is like to be other people. Board games flex my imagination and expand my world view. Ultimately, I suppose as I said above, I am here simply to share my personal musings about my tabletop game experiences.
